About Me
Portrait of Daniel Plötzl
I am Daniel, a Junior IT Security / Cybersecurity Analyst candidate completing the Computer Software Engineering programme at 42 Vienna (project-based, peer-to-peer).

My work is grounded in systems-level thinking and developed through daily hands-on work in Linux-based, virtualised and networked environments.

Through practical projects, I focus on observing and analysing real system behaviour, working with authentication events, permissions and logs, and understanding how Linux systems behave under normal operation and misconfiguration.

Current Learning Focus
  • Analysis of authentication-related security events
  • Linux system hardening and access control
  • Understanding system behaviour and attack surface reduction
Core Areas
  • Log analysis: Authentication events, failed logins, usage patterns
  • Authentication and access control: SSH, sudo, user permissions
  • Linux security: System hardening, SSH configuration, firewall management
  • Network fundamentals: TCP/IP, client/server architecture
  • Automation and tooling: Bash scripting, log parsing, security analysis tools
Technical Skills
Operating Systems and Tools:
Linux, Neovim, Tmux, Git, Docker, VMware, VirtualBox

Programming:
Bash, C/C++, Python

Background
Previous experience in high-responsibility operational and programme environments adds structured problem-solving, reliability, and clear communication under pressure.
